What I'm Doing for Lent

Did you know that today starts Lent? (*I'm not Catholic, but still like that challenge of giving something up!)  I usually give up something like pop or sweets, and while I think I am still going to do that, I have a different plan in mind. First of all, our Women of Faith group is going to be completing a 40 day devotional on the Bible App. It gives us a short devotional, a piece of Scripture to read, and then a question prompt for us to discuss. The best part of it, is that is all through the app, so we can complete the days reading at our own pace. I am pretty excited for this! One thing that I have decided to do for Lent is to commit to working out every day except Sunday's. I know this will be a struggle, I know I'm going to have to get up early, but I know it will be worth it in the end. Summer is coming, ya'll! I have some videos already prepped on YouTube, and I bought some exercise bands and sliders I will use as well! I'm giving myself a rest day on Su...

What I Gave Up for Lent

Image Lent was yesterday, did you know that? Alright, so I'm not Catholic. However, I do give something up for Lent every year.  I usually give up pop, but I don't really drink it that much any more. This year I am going a little different route. This year, I am giving up sweets. I do have a sweet tooth, and just about every weekend my grandma makes something sweet. Now, perhaps I do bend the rules a little bit. To me, a frappe is not a sweet. It is a beverage. Also, I do not count muffins as sweets, they are breakfast foods. Do you agree with me on these? Another thing I am giving up for Lent is second helpings. Listen, when I am done with my plate of food 95% of the time I will go back for seconds. Not because I am hungry, but because the food was good. That only adds extra calories, extra weight, and I end up full and sick to my stomach. NO MORE! I hope that after Lent is over I can continue this habit and say that I lost some weight in the process. I usually strug...

A quick treat to satisfy a craving...

I'm not Catholic and yet I still give up something for Lent. This year, I gave up drinking pop, sweets*, and not having bread 3 days a week. So far, I am doing good. My waistline is thanking me as well! Sometimes my sweet tooth gets a craving. I am going to share a quick and simple recipe that satisfies my craving and is still within the "rules."  Here's what you need: Graham crackers Nutella Marshmallow Fluff 2 knives Break the graham cracker into two sections. Spread one graham cracker with the marshmallow fluff. Spread the other graham cracker with Nutella. Put the two together, and you have a wonderful homemade s'more to enjoy! Try it and and let me know what you think! *By sweets I mean, cookies, pie, cake, ice cream.
