SuperBowl Party Recap

I realized that I never shared with you my SuperBowl party! Don't worry, it wasn't anything spectacular, but it was fun none the less! My parents did a lot of the cooking, and they did a great job as they usually do! We were all rooting for Devner, and were so happy when they won! We love us some Peyton Manning. (I was rooting for the Patrtiots when they played them, but when the Broncos won, it was all Peyton!) We had my grandparents out and had some BBQ pulled pork, potato salad, coleslaw, and baked beans. So we represented Carolina as well. ;) My mom made cream filled cupcakes (She made me some without cream filling, because I don't like cream filled cupcakes.) with the icing being blue and orange. She's so creative and I can't stand it. To church that Sunday, I wore my orange and blue sweater and had many people asking me if I was rooting for Denver. Yes, yes I was. I can get behind a theme to dress for! That was my SuperBowl party! I guess we will hav

Show & Tell: Favorite Pinterest Pins

What did we do before Pinterest? I think we actually hung things up on a bulletin board!! I'm like everyone else and is obsessed. There isn't a better way to keep track of recipes, quotes, home things etc in one area than Pinterest. I'm linking up with Andrea today to share with you my favorite pins! I have 16 boards. So I figured I would give you a favorite pin from each of my boards! You can follow all of my boards here! My Style: I LOVE this outfit! It screams Duke, and the touch of leopard makes it even better! I need to find a blue blazer like this, and those awesome grey pants! For the Home: I think this is so cute! Plus, it is cheap, and would look great on a house or apartment! Favorite Places and Spaces:  Bora Bora is on my bucket list. I'd love to go there and to just relax and look at that beautiful water. I would definitely want to stay in an over water bungalow to look at the fish! Things I Love: You will find a lot of animal

Weekend Recap

Can I get a shout for four day weekends? Unfortunately, my week last week was crazy and I ended up having the flu. I suffered through it Monday and Tuesday, but by Wednesday I just couldn't do it and called off work. It wasn't the stomach virus that has been going around, but it was the achy fevering/chilling, headache flu. Both of my parent's had it, so I was bound to get it. Yuck! By Thursday I was feeling better and went to the nursing home with my Grandma to play for the residents. My other two grandparents are in there and they were so thrilled to enjoy the music! (I made sure to stay away from them just in case I was still contagious!) After, my parents and I went to Pizza Hut for dinner, and then spent an hour at the mall. Friday, my cousin came out to give me the lowdown on her wedding! I'm a bridesmaid, and wanted to get a feel for what she wanted for her shower, etc. Girlfriend got it covered! She seriously rocks and has almost everything planned! Saturd

Friday Favorites

Ladies and Gents, can I get an amen for 4 day weekends?! I mean who doesn't love a four day weekend? I know my fellow teachers do! I'm linking up with Andrea today to share with you my Friday Favorites! I got my DIY message board ready for Valentine's Day. I'm not a huge V-Day fan (#singlegal), but I've learned to embrace the holiday. 1 Corinthians 13 is my absolute favorite Bible verse on love, so it was only appropriate to put on the board. This little thing is so darn handy I can't stand it. It was perfect for my after work snack of iced coffee, and white cheddar popcorn. There was no spillage, and I didn't have to have both of my hands tied up with a drink and snack. Definitely a favorite! My parent's and I went to $5 burger night at a local restaurant. I don't know if the food was especially good, or we were just starving but it was out of this world! I had to laugh at my mom and I's conversation about Grease Liv

What I Gave Up for Lent

Image Lent was yesterday, did you know that? Alright, so I'm not Catholic. However, I do give something up for Lent every year.  I usually give up pop, but I don't really drink it that much any more. This year I am going a little different route. This year, I am giving up sweets. I do have a sweet tooth, and just about every weekend my grandma makes something sweet. Now, perhaps I do bend the rules a little bit. To me, a frappe is not a sweet. It is a beverage. Also, I do not count muffins as sweets, they are breakfast foods. Do you agree with me on these? Another thing I am giving up for Lent is second helpings. Listen, when I am done with my plate of food 95% of the time I will go back for seconds. Not because I am hungry, but because the food was good. That only adds extra calories, extra weight, and I end up full and sick to my stomach. NO MORE! I hope that after Lent is over I can continue this habit and say that I lost some weight in the process. I usually strug

WIWW: My Go-To Outfit

Um, it has been MONTHS since I have done a WIWW post! I wanted to share with you my go to outfit. I usually pick out my outfits for the week on Saturday and have them all steamed and hanging ready to be worn. It helps tremendously, and saves so much time in the mornings. There was a time last week where I did not want to wear one of the outfits I picked out. On that particular day, I didn't feel like getting super dressy for work, and I wanted to be comfortable. So I picked out my go to outfit. Mandii Fun Fact: I normally detest mixing black and browns together. However, this outfit negates that. A leopard scarf is always classy, and I jump at any opportunity to wear leopard. It's a neutral. I paired this scarf with dressy skinny black pants. I had a white tank underneath my chambray/jean top that I got at Wal-Mart for $3.00! I wore my Mark Fisher boots that I got from the QVC Outlet a few years ago. I kept my jewelry simple with my Isaac Mizrahi leather band watch, O

What I've Been Up To

Oh, hey! Can I be honest for a minute? I've kinda of lacked inspiration on this blog. I initially started to do beauty reviews, but I mostly use the same products from day to day. Plus, there are SO MANY beauty blogs out there that rehash the same things. So I hope to turn this more into a lifestyle blog and throw a mix of everything in it! I hope to gain some inspiration and get this blog on track and consistent. So, bear with me until that happens. To those of you who have stuck with me, thank you! Anyway, let's talk about what I've been up to lately. I have been subbing almost every day, so nights are spent getting ready for the next day, and weekends are prepped for the upcoming week. Quite the exciting life I lead right?! Although being a homebody at heart it is nice to just stay home. I have been cooking a lot recently, so I made Andrea's Faux Quiche in muffin tins so I can grab a quick breakfast in the morning. #notamorningperson. I added sausage, potatoes

Let's Talk: How to Win My Heart

Thanks Andrea for this awesome series and link up! Today's topic is a nice one to lead us into Valentine's Day! I'm not a complicated person. Like everyone, I have my quirks, but I'd like to think that I'm not a hard person to please. So, to my future boyfriend, fiancee, husband, here are a few ways to win my heart. Image First of all, the man who wins my heart must be a Christian. This is priority number one. My guy must also love my family. Believe me, they will let you know if they don't like you. I trust their judgement 100%. Truthfully, they know me better than I know myself. He must also love kids, and want some of his own. When I see a guy who is good with kids, I basically do the heart eye emoji. #truth My future guy will also enjoy sports. I think he would be pretty surprised with how much his girl knows about athletes and the game. We can spend time together watching sports at home or going to the games! My love language is quality time, so

Random Odds and Ends

I was looking through photos on my computer, and realized that there were some that I never shared with you! My cousin makes and sells handmade jewelry, so my aunt had a party to showcase her work. My mom, grandma, aunt, and I all went, and had a great time! On the way home however, we got stuck in the Liberty Tunnel for 20 minutes! Us girls had fun chatting in the car during the stoppage. For Christmas, Cashew got stuffed Rudolph and Clarice toys. He loves them! Clarice is definitely his favorite, so I couldn't resist doing a little photo editing. ;) Do you think that I have enough lip balm? My mom got me all of these for Christmas. I NEVER go through lip balm, but before all of these were bought for me, I had already gone through 3 of these! That never happens!!! I posted a review of this lip balm a long time ago, and you can find it here ! What kinds of odds and ends do you have? Leave me a comment and let me know!
