WIWW: Wedding Edition

I'm a big fan of frugality. If I have a wedding or special event to go to, I don't want to spend a boatload of money on a dress I could possibly only wear once. Most of my dresses for these occasions are found at Ross Dress 4 Less. I'm a huge fan of their store. I can almost always find an item of clothing, accessory, or household item I want to buy every time I go in there. (And I have bought several things on a whim!) I wanted to share with you what I wore to my cousin's wedding.

Her wedding took place at 5:30 at a country club. It was going to be very hot that day, so I knew that I wanted a lighter fabric to keep me cool since the ceremony and cocktail hour were outside. I tried on several dresses, but as it usually is, the first one is the one you end up with. I tried this dress on first, and immediately loved it. My dress was by Enfocus Women. I loved the color combination of pink and gray. I loved the little ruffles on the skirt portion. I also loved that it was simple and "very Mandii." *To be fair, I tried on the 4 other dresses I brought into the dressing room with, but didn't love them as much as I loved this one.*

I accessorized this look with jewelry that I borrowed from my aunt. My necklace and earrings were gray pearls, and I also had lighter gray pearl bracelets on as well. For shoes, I had on gray pumps...which I wore during the ceremony and promptly changed out of after cocktail hour.     ;)

I put my hair in a princess roll using a gray headband with a bow, and for makeup I created a soft gray smokey eye, and accented with brighter pink lipstick.

What do you normally wear to a wedding? I'd love to see your outfits! Leave me a comment and let me know!

Since it is Wednesday, I'm linking up with the Pleated Poppy!

Cooking for a Crowd: Spaghetti Sauce

My family likes to save money when we have parties. One way to do so is to cook everything ourselves, instead of hiring a caterer. Today, I wanted to give you a recipe for spaghetti sauce that will feed a crowd. This recipe is best made in an 18 quart roast pan. We bought most of our sauces and tomato paste at Costco. Ingredients: 2 onions 3 cans diced tomatoes 2 #10 cans of tomato sauce 1 #10 can on spaghetti sauce 1 heaping tsp of garlic minced 2 (28 oz) cans of crushed tomatoes 4 (6 oz) cans of tomato paste 1 tsp sugar Onion and garlic salt, italian seasoning, parsley, oregano to taste 1 pound of each: ground meat, hot and sweet sausage Look at the deliciousness!  In a skillet brown your meat and sausage in a little oil. Once browned place off to the side. Combine your onions, garlic, diced tomatoes, and crushed tomatoes. *Sweat your onions down first, then add the garlic. Then your tomatoes.* Open your tomato sauces and spaghetti sauces (w...

YouTube-a-palooza

*Warning: this will be a long post, and picture heavy!*  :) Strictly based on the title alone I should have caught your attention! Sunday was the Alex Goot concert. It was at bar in Pittsburgh, and there were about 5 acts to the show!  You definitely got your money's worth! I went with my cousin, Allie (you can find her blog here! ) and it was just a fun girls night! The show was in a bar which used to be an old church, so it was very pretty inside. We got there around 6,  parked, and only had to stand in line for 10 minutes before we got to go inside. When we went in, we got our tickets scanned and  BAM , there was Landon Austin and Luke Conard at their merchandise table. So, because I somehow gained oodles of confidence*, Allie and I went over and I said "Hi Landon!"  He said "hi" back and asked me my name. I had a card for him so I handed it to him and he asked if he should open it now or later. I said that it was up to him. We moved on to Luke Conar...
