Christmas Shopping Update #2

Well, we are creeping closer and closer to Christmas. Way back at the beginning of the month I gave you my Christmas shopping update. Part one is here! Here is part two of this mini series.

So, my Christmas cards are out! Granted, I didn't have a lot to send out. The ones to my close friends are written, stamped, and in the mail.

The only gifts I need to shop for are my Aunt, and Uncle. I still have no clue what to get them.

I have ordered my mom and grandma's gifts. I have even begun to wrap some gifts! I'd like to be completely done by the 23. I don't want to be baking, and wrapping and be completely stressed out on Christmas Eve. I might be putting in some later nights, but it will be worth it.

Now cooking is a different story. I make a quiche, bread, Italian butter, and Christmas Eve dessert. I'm glad that I can make some things ahead. The Italian butter, quiche, and bread can be made ahead. So I plan to make some of these after I get home from work on the 23rd. (See why I want to be done wrapping by then?!)

Cooking for a Crowd: Spaghetti Sauce

My family likes to save money when we have parties. One way to do so is to cook everything ourselves, instead of hiring a caterer. Today, I wanted to give you a recipe for spaghetti sauce that will feed a crowd. This recipe is best made in an 18 quart roast pan. We bought most of our sauces and tomato paste at Costco. Ingredients: 2 onions 3 cans diced tomatoes 2 #10 cans of tomato sauce 1 #10 can on spaghetti sauce 1 heaping tsp of garlic minced 2 (28 oz) cans of crushed tomatoes 4 (6 oz) cans of tomato paste 1 tsp sugar Onion and garlic salt, italian seasoning, parsley, oregano to taste 1 pound of each: ground meat, hot and sweet sausage Look at the deliciousness!  In a skillet brown your meat and sausage in a little oil. High Five for Friday

Friday is here again! It is always a wonderful way to bring in the weekend. Here is what I loved this week. 1. I made another visit to Freedom Farms. I bought some apples, and bread. 2. I absolutely loved my Birchbox and Ipsy bags this month! The Ipsy review is coming tomorrow! 3. I am subbing today and I got to wear my jeans to school. I love days like that. 4. I just want it to be Christmas, because I have some amazing posts for you already planned out! 5. I discovered that McDonald's iced coffee with caramel is AMAZING! Thanks, Lauren for the link up! Christmas/New Year's Recap

First, I just want to say that I have absolutely no pictures from Christmas. I'm terrible, I know. In my defense, I was sick all through Christmas and just wasn't feeling "it." I do however, have pictures of some of the gifts I received and New Year's. Christmas Eve dinner was hosted by my parents and I. We had lasagna, wedding soup, salad, bread, and Italian butter. I made a homemade alfredo sauce to go along with the lasagna. I also made the Italian butter, and attempted to make my homemade French bread. This year, the bread did not turn out. For dessert, I made white chocolate raspberry shooters. They were SO good! I will do a recipe on those when I make them again! After everything was cleaned up, we honestly just relaxed. I would have liked to have gone to Christmas Eve service at our church, but I was coughing, clearing my throat every 5 minutes, and blowing my nose every 10. I was a hot mess.
