Bible Study Party

Recently I had a group of girls over for our monthly "Faith Group." Sometimes we cover a Christian book, sometimes we cover scripture, or sometimes we just talk about the issues we are experiencing in our faith. I look forward to these nights because it is so good to get together with like minded women and just talk about our faith in Jesus. We take turns hosting, and this time it was my turn! I just wanted to give you a quick glimpse into what I did to set up for this very informal gathering.

For food, we always keep it simple. I made a fiesta taco dip that I got in North East, PA. It was simple, just mix with sour cream and mayo, and pour the dip mix in. I served in with tortilla chips, and that's it!

If you have something savory, you always need something sweet! I made chocolate chip dip. (Recipe coming to the blog soon!) I only make this occasionally because I would literally eat the entire bowl. It's that good! I served it with windowpane pretzels, because salty and sweet just go together wonderfully!

I had a variety of drinks out, along with some cute plates and napkins.

I used my signature picture frame with vis a vis marker, to describe what was on the menu for the evening. I had the 100 Instrumental Hymns Pandora station playing in the background. Like I said, simple!

Truthfully, the food we feed our souls with is much more important that the food we feed our stomachs with anyway. These little gatherings never last more than an hour and a half, but that time is just filled with great conversation about our faith. Like I said, it is one of my favorite days of the month!

If you host an event like this, I'd love to hear your suggestions on the topic we should cover next! Leave me a comment and let me know!

Cooking for a Crowd: Spaghetti Sauce

My family likes to save money when we have parties. One way to do so is to cook everything ourselves, instead of hiring a caterer. Today, I wanted to give you a recipe for spaghetti sauce that will feed a crowd. This recipe is best made in an 18 quart roast pan. We bought most of our sauces and tomato paste at Costco. Ingredients: 2 onions 3 cans diced tomatoes 2 #10 cans of tomato sauce 1 #10 can on spaghetti sauce 1 heaping tsp of garlic minced 2 (28 oz) cans of crushed tomatoes 4 (6 oz) cans of tomato paste 1 tsp sugar Onion and garlic salt, italian seasoning, parsley, oregano to taste 1 pound of each: ground meat, hot and sweet sausage Look at the deliciousness!  In a skillet brown your meat and sausage in a little oil. Once browned place off to the side. Combine your onions, garlic, diced tomatoes, and crushed tomatoes. *Sweat your onions down first, then add the garlic. Then your tomatoes.* Open your tomato sauces and spaghetti sauces (w...

YouTube-a-palooza

*Warning: this will be a long post, and picture heavy!*  :) Strictly based on the title alone I should have caught your attention! Sunday was the Alex Goot concert. It was at bar in Pittsburgh, and there were about 5 acts to the show!  You definitely got your money's worth! I went with my cousin, Allie (you can find her blog here! ) and it was just a fun girls night! The show was in a bar which used to be an old church, so it was very pretty inside. We got there around 6,  parked, and only had to stand in line for 10 minutes before we got to go inside. When we went in, we got our tickets scanned and  BAM , there was Landon Austin and Luke Conard at their merchandise table. So, because I somehow gained oodles of confidence*, Allie and I went over and I said "Hi Landon!"  He said "hi" back and asked me my name. I had a card for him so I handed it to him and he asked if he should open it now or later. I said that it was up to him. We moved on to Luke Conar...
