What's On the Menu

My plate!
Today, I'm participating in a link up with Andrea over at Momfessionals. I just adore her blog, and you will too! Today's theme is What's on the menu, so I wanted to give you a taste (pun intended!) of what  we had for the 4th of July! I will throw in some decor too, so you can feel like you were there with us!

First of all, the weather was absolutely perfect. The humidity that we had been having vanished, and it was breezy, sunny, and wonderful.

FOOD:

I took some full table shots, so you might not be able to see everything so I will list it here.

  • Hamburgers/Hot dogs
  • Poppy seed coleslaw
  • Cucumber and onions in Greek yogurt
  • Baked beans
  • Mac n cheese
  • Dirty rice (if loving this is wrong, I don't want to be right!)
  • Pickle/relish tray
  • Hot dog chili (homemade!)
  • Fruit salad
For drinks, we had lemonade, mint tea, iced tea, and different varieties of pop. We also set out bottles of water!

DECOR:

This year, my mom and I decided it would be fun to wrap our silverware. So one evening, (basically one episode of 7th Heaven!) I rolled the silverware in a napkin and tied it with a festive read ribbon. The basket, we bought at the Amish auction for a whopping $4. The silverware went in there, as well as extra napkins, and the dessert silverware. The flag tablecloth was something that my mom had from years ago. I found the patriotic bucket in our shed, and we used that to put our drinks in!

It was a great day spent with family and friends!

I'd love to see what was on your menu! Leave me a comment and let me know! Thanks, Andrea for the link up!

Cooking for a Crowd: Spaghetti Sauce

My family likes to save money when we have parties. One way to do so is to cook everything ourselves, instead of hiring a caterer. Today, I wanted to give you a recipe for spaghetti sauce that will feed a crowd. This recipe is best made in an 18 quart roast pan. We bought most of our sauces and tomato paste at Costco. Ingredients: 2 onions 3 cans diced tomatoes 2 #10 cans of tomato sauce 1 #10 can on spaghetti sauce 1 heaping tsp of garlic minced 2 (28 oz) cans of crushed tomatoes 4 (6 oz) cans of tomato paste 1 tsp sugar Onion and garlic salt, italian seasoning, parsley, oregano to taste 1 pound of each: ground meat, hot and sweet sausage Look at the deliciousness!  In a skillet brown your meat and sausage in a little oil. Once browned place off to the side. Combine your onions, garlic, diced tomatoes, and crushed tomatoes. *Sweat your onions down first, then add the garlic. Then your tomatoes.* Open your tomato sauces and spaghetti sauces (w...

It's Been Awhile...

Hi! Do you remember me and this little blog? I've been thinking about starting this blog back up again, and I am just going to jump in with both feet and go for it! In the past what, 4 years since the last post, I have learned a lot, and have a lot to share! So if you'll bear with me, I'd love to share some fun tips and tricks and recipes with you here on this little space on the internet.  I will give you a little reintroduction of myself.  I'm Mandii. I'm a small town girl full of random information. Sports facts, check. Fashion tips, oh yeah, I've got those a plenty! Recipes? You're speaking my language. I love all things faith, family, fashion, sports, and food related. Which is exactly what you will find on this space. I love to travel even though I don't do it nearly enough.  I don't know if I am going to commit to a full 5 days on here yet. I'll play it by ear, and if you'll stick with me, I think we can do some great things here!  I...

YouTube-a-palooza

*Warning: this will be a long post, and picture heavy!*  :) Strictly based on the title alone I should have caught your attention! Sunday was the Alex Goot concert. It was at bar in Pittsburgh, and there were about 5 acts to the show!  You definitely got your money's worth! I went with my cousin, Allie (you can find her blog here! ) and it was just a fun girls night! The show was in a bar which used to be an old church, so it was very pretty inside. We got there around 6,  parked, and only had to stand in line for 10 minutes before we got to go inside. When we went in, we got our tickets scanned and  BAM , there was Landon Austin and Luke Conard at their merchandise table. So, because I somehow gained oodles of confidence*, Allie and I went over and I said "Hi Landon!"  He said "hi" back and asked me my name. I had a card for him so I handed it to him and he asked if he should open it now or later. I said that it was up to him. We moved on to Luke Conar...
