New Year's Resolutions

Image
A new year means resolutions! I have some resolutions that I want to share with your for this year, but let's take a look back at last year and the resolutions I made.

I break my resolutions down into categories, and will do the same for this year!

Environment:

Last Year: To buy items locally.
How I Did: Honestly, I probably failed on this one. I purchased some items locally, but probably not enough to count.

I plan to restart this resolution this year and make a conscious effort to buy locally, support small businesses, and independent business people.

Health:

Last Year: Drop some pounds!
How I Did: I did really well until work started. Then work started and I got lazy, and put a few of those pounds back on.

I would like to lose an additional 25 pounds this year and tone up. I am committing to eating clean 5 days a week, and 30 minutes of exercise at least 5 days a week. I know I can do this!

Beauty:

Last Year: Shorten my beauty routine.
How I Did: I mean, I did okay with this one. Especially more recently. I got lazy and left the house with only eyeliner, mascara, and lipstick on. You know what? I looked fine. No one stared at me like I was crazy.

This year, I plan to use face masques more. I know they are good for your skin, so I need to carve time out and just get it done.

Blogging:

Last Year: Consistent with blogging, and grow blog.
How I Did: FAILED! I seriously slacked on the blog front. I was majorly inconsistent with posting. Epic Fail.

This year I am going to be consistent with blogging, and to update my Facebook Fan Page and Pinterest page more often.

I have one more resolution to add to this list! I've committed to reading the Bible this year. I haven't read it the whole way through before. I've just chosen chapters to read. I have a printable from Charles Stanley that I am using, and so far, I LOVE it!

I will see you in 2017 to see how I did with these resolutions!

What are your resolutions for this upcoming year? Leave me a comment and tell me about them!

Cooking for a Crowd: Spaghetti Sauce

My family likes to save money when we have parties. One way to do so is to cook everything ourselves, instead of hiring a caterer. Today, I wanted to give you a recipe for spaghetti sauce that will feed a crowd. This recipe is best made in an 18 quart roast pan. We bought most of our sauces and tomato paste at Costco. Ingredients: 2 onions 3 cans diced tomatoes 2 #10 cans of tomato sauce 1 #10 can on spaghetti sauce 1 heaping tsp of garlic minced 2 (28 oz) cans of crushed tomatoes 4 (6 oz) cans of tomato paste 1 tsp sugar Onion and garlic salt, italian seasoning, parsley, oregano to taste 1 pound of each: ground meat, hot and sweet sausage Look at the deliciousness!  In a skillet brown your meat and sausage in a little oil. Once browned place off to the side. Combine your onions, garlic, diced tomatoes, and crushed tomatoes. *Sweat your onions down first, then add the garlic. Then your tomatoes.* Open your tomato sauces and spaghetti sauces (w...

What about you? How was your week? Leave me a comment , I'd love to hear from you!

Christmas/New Year's Recap

First, I just want to say that I have absolutely no pictures from Christmas. I'm terrible, I know. In my defense, I was sick all through Christmas and just wasn't feeling "it." I do however, have pictures of some of the gifts I received and New Year's. Christmas Eve dinner was hosted by my parents and I. We had lasagna, wedding soup, salad, bread, and Italian butter. I made a homemade alfredo sauce to go along with the lasagna. I also made the Italian butter, and attempted to make my homemade French bread. This year, the bread did not turn out. For dessert, I made white chocolate raspberry shooters. They were SO good! I will do a recipe on those when I make them again! After everything was cleaned up, we honestly just relaxed. I would have liked to have gone to Christmas Eve service at our church, but I was coughing, clearing my throat every 5 minutes, and blowing my nose every 10. I was a hot mess. My grandparents came back out to our house after church and w...
