Friday Favorites

The weekend is near! Since it is Friday, I'm linking up with Andrea to share with you some of my favorites for the week!

1. After today, there are 0 school days left!! That's it! Finito! Even as a substitute teacher, this is the happy time!! I'll miss the kids and staff, but I won't miss getting up early, wearing makeup every day, etc. Plus, I can get back on track with my workouts, and set a new summer routine and sleep in just a tad. :)

2. I have been borderline obsessed with iced coffee lately. I blame Dunkin Donuts. First, they are right by the school I substitute at. Second, they have Happy Hour from 2-6 every day where you can get an iced coffee or iced tea for $.99. At one point a week or two ago, I had gone three times and I didn't even realize it!  Plus, I got these Maxwell House coffee concentrate in caramel and vanilla to make iced coffee at home. Someone stage an intervention for me, please!

3. I went to my first Amish produce/flower auction of the season. Mom and I bought some rhubarb and 4 hanging baskets. We will definitely be going back because we need a lot more flowers, and we need to get my Grandma some too. These auctions are one thing I love about living in the country. P.S. The big Amish benefit auction is coming up really soon! I'm going to blog about it like I have in years past, the draft is already started!

4. Because I haven't said it already, (alright, I have.) School is out!!!

Be on the look out for new posts coming your way soon! I have free time now to focus on this blog! Yay, Summer break!!

How has your week been? Leave me a comment and let me know!

Cooking for a Crowd: Spaghetti Sauce

My family likes to save money when we have parties. One way to do so is to cook everything ourselves, instead of hiring a caterer. Today, I wanted to give you a recipe for spaghetti sauce that will feed a crowd. This recipe is best made in an 18 quart roast pan. We bought most of our sauces and tomato paste at Costco. Ingredients: 2 onions 3 cans diced tomatoes 2 #10 cans of tomato sauce 1 #10 can on spaghetti sauce 1 heaping tsp of garlic minced 2 (28 oz) cans of crushed tomatoes 4 (6 oz) cans of tomato paste 1 tsp sugar Onion and garlic salt, italian seasoning, parsley, oregano to taste 1 pound of each: ground meat, hot and sweet sausage Look at the deliciousness!  In a skillet brown your meat and sausage in a little oil. Once browned place off to the side. Combine your onions, garlic, diced tomatoes, and crushed tomatoes. *Sweat your onions down first, then add the garlic. Then your tomatoes.* Open your tomato sauces and spaghetti sauces (w...

Christmas/New Year's Recap

First, I just want to say that I have absolutely no pictures from Christmas. I'm terrible, I know. In my defense, I was sick all through Christmas and just wasn't feeling "it." I do however, have pictures of some of the gifts I received and New Year's. Christmas Eve dinner was hosted by my parents and I. We had lasagna, wedding soup, salad, bread, and Italian butter. I made a homemade alfredo sauce to go along with the lasagna. I also made the Italian butter, and attempted to make my homemade French bread. This year, the bread did not turn out. For dessert, I made white chocolate raspberry shooters. They were SO good! I will do a recipe on those when I make them again! After everything was cleaned up, we honestly just relaxed. I would have liked to have gone to Christmas Eve service at our church, but I was coughing, clearing my throat every 5 minutes, and blowing my nose every 10. I was a hot mess. My grandparents came back out to our house after church and w...
