Owning It

Today, I am linking up with Christina over at The New Mrs. I love her blog, and always read her posts last on my feed! (Save the best for last!) You should definitely check her out! Today, I am linking up with her and am going to "Own It." Man oh man, there is a lot to own. I would expect more of these Own It posts, because there is definitely more!

1. I eat my meals with a small salad fork. It feels weird for me to eat food with a regular sized fork. Maybe I have small hands, or maybe I'm just odd. Any time I am home, I eat with a salad fork.

2. I don't cry very often, but I cry at sports. Hallmark commercials, sappy movies they don't get to me. Sports do! When the Cleveland Indians lost the ALDS series in 2007, I cried myself to sleep the night they lost. When Duke won their 4th and 5th National Championships, I cried. When I get invested in a team, I get INVESTED. The proof is in the pudding.

3. When I was younger (think 4) I was SO afraid that I was going to swallow my tongue or stop breathing. So I wouldn't swallow, and kept my finger under my nose to check if I was breathing. So here was me, spitting my spit in the sink because I was afraid I was going to swallow my tongue if I did. What four year old thinks of these things?!?! Apparently, me. Um, weird-o. Glad that stage has passed!

4. I collect pens. I have pens from when my family went to Toronto to watch an Indians game. I have a pen from NYC. I have a pen from my college. I have several pens from when I went to Duke. Do I use these pens? Nope. They are just sitting in a box in my desk. Really though, I just love pens. To me, a fun writing instrument makes writing ten times better. I was also that person who hated to let other people borrow my pens in high school and college.

Believe me, this is only the tip of the iceberg. I will definitely be linking up with her again, and you can join me in my weirdness!

What are some things that you can "own it" about? I can't wait to read about them! Leave me a comment and let me know!

Cooking for a Crowd: Spaghetti Sauce

My family likes to save money when we have parties. One way to do so is to cook everything ourselves, instead of hiring a caterer. Today, I wanted to give you a recipe for spaghetti sauce that will feed a crowd. This recipe is best made in an 18 quart roast pan. We bought most of our sauces and tomato paste at Costco. Ingredients: 2 onions 3 cans diced tomatoes 2 #10 cans of tomato sauce 1 #10 can on spaghetti sauce 1 heaping tsp of garlic minced 2 (28 oz) cans of crushed tomatoes 4 (6 oz) cans of tomato paste 1 tsp sugar Onion and garlic salt, italian seasoning, parsley, oregano to taste 1 pound of each: ground meat, hot and sweet sausage Look at the deliciousness!  In a skillet brown your meat and sausage in a little oil. Once browned place off to the side. Combine your onions, garlic, diced tomatoes, and crushed tomatoes. *Sweat your onions down first, then add the garlic. Then your tomatoes.* Open your tomato sauces and spaghetti sauces (w...

Christmas/New Year's Recap

First, I just want to say that I have absolutely no pictures from Christmas. I'm terrible, I know. In my defense, I was sick all through Christmas and just wasn't feeling "it." I do however, have pictures of some of the gifts I received and New Year's. Christmas Eve dinner was hosted by my parents and I. We had lasagna, wedding soup, salad, bread, and Italian butter. I made a homemade alfredo sauce to go along with the lasagna. I also made the Italian butter, and attempted to make my homemade French bread. This year, the bread did not turn out. For dessert, I made white chocolate raspberry shooters. They were SO good! I will do a recipe on those when I make them again! After everything was cleaned up, we honestly just relaxed. I would have liked to have gone to Christmas Eve service at our church, but I was coughing, clearing my throat every 5 minutes, and blowing my nose every 10. I was a hot mess. My grandparents came back out to our house after church and w...
