If you've read my post on my rosacea diagnosis, you know that I changed my skincare routine pretty dramatically! This post is a followup to show you what I use on my face to wash, and moisturize it.
The first piece of the puzzle starts at night. I only wash my face at night. I wash my face with baking soda. Now if I am having some breakouts, I will add one drop of tea tree oil to the baking soda, make a paste with water, and wash my face. If I'm not breaking out, I just make a paste with the baking soda and water and scrub a dub dub. The baking soda balances the pH level of your skin, is a gentle exfoliant, and the tea tree oil is superb for breakouts.
After I've washed my face, I will tone with TN Dickinson's witch hazel. This next cream is crucial. I use the Derma E Skinbiotics Treatment Creme with tea tree and oregano. This has been the key to curtailing the breakouts. And no, you don't smell like an Italian garden after using it. Haha! (Although, what would be wrong with that?!)
The next morning, I use cool water to wipe my face off, and refresh again with the witch hazel. If I am going somewhere I will use one of two products. I will use Cetaphil Oil Control moisturizer with SPF 30, or Cetaphil for redness prone skin tinted moisturizer in SPF 20.
I use the tinted moisturizer underneath my makeup. I will put that on first, and then top with Laura Geller Baked Balance and Brighten foundation.
When I wash my face at night to get the makeup off, I will use a tiny bit of The Body Shop tea tree face wash mixed with my baking soda, and continue with my routine listed above.
If I am breaking out a lot, I will mix sweet almond oil and tea tree oil and put it on my breakouts. This has also helped, especially since I've noticed my face starting to get drier.
I also take Milk Thistle internally to help with my gut health. There is a lot of research that shows gut health contributes to rosacea.
This is what has been working for me. I'm so glad I decided to give it a chance. I think these methods would work for acne prone skin as well. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me!
