Christmas in July 5k

On July 25 I participated in a Christmas in July themed 5k! Who doesn't love Christmas? I thought that this was such a creative idea for a 5k. The pamphlet said to dress up, so that is exactly what my mom and I did! I was Rudolph, and she was a Christmas tree. She came in second place in the contest!!

A Christmas tree and Rudolph!
During the beginning, they played Christmas music to get us in the spirit, even though it was 90 degrees outside. The race started, and I had a great pace. Mind you, I walked. Even if I could run, I was not running in the 90 degree heat. The course was a mix of hills, and cross country trails. I finished about 5 minutes ahead of my mom.

After the race they had breakfast for us. They had a local eatery prepare breakfast sandwiches, and had lots of fruit. They also had cookies, and blueberry bread. Luckily, they had lots of water and juices for us to re hydrate with!

After the race, so my makeup was a little smudged.
I think that this race was one of my best 5k times. Whoo! I figured if you are going to workout, might as well get a t-shirt, and workout with your family!

I am going to leave you with some pictures of the event. What did you think of my deer makeup?

Have you done a themed 5k before? Leave me a comment and let me know!

Cooking for a Crowd: Spaghetti Sauce

Today, I wanted to give you a recipe for spaghetti sauce that will feed a crowd. This recipe is best made in an 18 quart roast pan. We bought most of our sauces and tomato paste at Costco. Ingredients: 2 onions 3 cans diced tomatoes 2 #10 cans of tomato sauce 1 #10 can on spaghetti sauce 1 heaping tsp of garlic minced 2 (28 oz) cans of crushed tomatoes 4 (6 oz) cans of tomato paste 1 tsp sugar Onion and garlic salt, italian seasoning, parsley, oregano to taste 1 pound of each: ground meat, hot and sweet sausage Look at the deliciousness!  In a skillet brown your meat and sausage in a little oil. Once browned place off to the side. Combine your onions, garlic, diced tomatoes, and crushed tomatoes. *Sweat your onions down first, then add the garlic. Then your tomatoes.* Open your tomato sauces and spaghetti sauces (w...
