Favorite Summer Moment

I celebrated my parent's anniversary this summer!
Well, if you are reading this, my summer is officially over. Tomorrow is my first sub day, and there is no doubt 5:30 a.m. is going to come way early, and I will most likely be sacked out on the couch by 8:30 p.m. Today, I am linking up with Andrea to share with you some of my favorite Summer memories, and man there were a lot!

I loved going to Indians games this summer. My first one went great, and it was so much fun! My second one didn't go quite as well. (We're still waiting on our redemption tickets!) Even though it was a disaster, I can honestly say that I didn't mind spending 6 hours in the car with my parents. It gave us a time to talk, laugh, and cry. (That was me, I totally cried.)

I had a few chocolate milkshakes!
Another special time that I'll remember was guinea pig night at my Bubba's house. I would make a main dish, and she would fill in with side dishes and dessert. It helped me hone my cooking skills, and add some new recipes to my collection! I made the most delicious vegetable lasagna, honey balsamic chicken sandwiches, and chicken spaghetti (recipe coming soon!). I hope to continue these nights on the weekend, because I really enjoy cooking and sharing the recipes with all of you!

Spending the 4th of July up in the mountains was fun! I got to see a different part of the state, and ride a ski lift for the first time. I also got to explore the Mount Summit Inn, and Nemacolin Woods which were beautiful, and I can't wait to explore them more!!
Loved doing a Christmas themed 5k with my mom!

Bible school week was a great time as well! It was so great to see so many kids in our church sharing and receiving the love of Christ. I helped my aunts and grandma, and other church members with attendance and shared many a laugh! To this day, I still randomly sing our songs that we learned for the week.

As I have documented on this blog, June was a rainy month. My neighbor's lake overflowed. I will never forget that day.
Gave blood for the first time, and almost passed out this summer!

Went to a few flower auctions!
I hope you enjoyed this snapshot into my summer. I'm sad to see it come to and end, but there are some exciting things up ahead.

I'd love to hear about your summer memories! Leave me a comment and share them with me!

Cooking for a Crowd: Spaghetti Sauce

My family likes to save money when we have parties. One way to do so is to cook everything ourselves, instead of hiring a caterer. Today, I wanted to give you a recipe for spaghetti sauce that will feed a crowd. This recipe is best made in an 18 quart roast pan. We bought most of our sauces and tomato paste at Costco. Ingredients: 2 onions 3 cans diced tomatoes 2 #10 cans of tomato sauce 1 #10 can on spaghetti sauce 1 heaping tsp of garlic minced 2 (28 oz) cans of crushed tomatoes 4 (6 oz) cans of tomato paste 1 tsp sugar Onion and garlic salt, italian seasoning, parsley, oregano to taste 1 pound of each: ground meat, hot and sweet sausage Look at the deliciousness!  In a skillet brown your meat and sausage in a little oil. Once browned place off to the side. Combine your onions, garlic, diced tomatoes, and crushed tomatoes. *Sweat your onions down first, then add the garlic. Then your tomatoes.* Open your tomato sauces and spaghetti sauces (w...

Christmas/New Year's Recap

First, I just want to say that I have absolutely no pictures from Christmas. I'm terrible, I know. In my defense, I was sick all through Christmas and just wasn't feeling "it." I do however, have pictures of some of the gifts I received and New Year's. Christmas Eve dinner was hosted by my parents and I. We had lasagna, wedding soup, salad, bread, and Italian butter. I made a homemade alfredo sauce to go along with the lasagna. I also made the Italian butter, and attempted to make my homemade French bread. This year, the bread did not turn out. For dessert, I made white chocolate raspberry shooters. They were SO good! I will do a recipe on those when I make them again! After everything was cleaned up, we honestly just relaxed. I would have liked to have gone to Christmas Eve service at our church, but I was coughing, clearing my throat every 5 minutes, and blowing my nose every 10. I was a hot mess. My grandparents came back out to our house after church and w...
