Sharing My Heart

Image
As fun as last week's post was, I felt the need to share my heart with you today. Last week, Satan was hounding me pretty badly. He was hounding me about life, love, and my blessings. He reminded me when I logged on Facebook and saw the weddings, babies, houses, and jobs people had. All I heard in my head was Satan telling me, "you're not pretty enough, smart enough, rich enough. You'll never have what they have. You're not enough." I felt awful, my mood was awful, and I knew that I needed to seek guidance from God.

I listened to this message from Joel Osteen, and had a breakthrough moment. (It is Message #660 if you can't find it!) I cried through the first 20 minutes of the sermon. (I rarely cry, so this was a big deal.) It was as if this message was meant for me, and me only to hear. Just because other people have received their blessings, doesn't mean He has given up on mine. The problem with me, is me. My blessings are my own, and if I can't celebrate other people's joys, my blessings aren't going to come.

Proverbs 19:21 came to my mind. "People can make all kinds of plans, but the only Lord's plan will happen." God is working on my behalf at this very moment. He is working in me so I can be fully ready to receive the blessings he has stored for me. Maybe He will put me in a career path that will honor Him and shine His light daily, or maybe He is preparing my future husband's heart right now. It will happen in God's time. Not when I want it to, but when I'm spiritually ready for it to happen. I woke up the next day with these lyrics on my heart, "It is no secret what God can do. What He's done for others He'll do for you." I love when God does that. He will put the appropriate verse or hymn in your heart just when you need it.

I have come to really rely on these verses in Scripture: Psalm 31:19 "How abundant is Your goodness which you have stored up for those that honor You." Also, Psalm 37:4 "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart." These two verses has helped me ward off Satan when he has reared his ugly head, and he has tried. I don't know what your heart desires, or what blessings God has in store for you, but I do know that God will provide those things in due time.

So if you are waiting on your desires and blessings like I am, rest assured they are coming in God's time. We will celebrate our blessings together!

Cooking for a Crowd: Spaghetti Sauce

My family likes to save money when we have parties. One way to do so is to cook everything ourselves, instead of hiring a caterer. Today, I wanted to give you a recipe for spaghetti sauce that will feed a crowd. This recipe is best made in an 18 quart roast pan. We bought most of our sauces and tomato paste at Costco. Ingredients: 2 onions 3 cans diced tomatoes 2 #10 cans of tomato sauce 1 #10 can on spaghetti sauce 1 heaping tsp of garlic minced 2 (28 oz) cans of crushed tomatoes 4 (6 oz) cans of tomato paste 1 tsp sugar Onion and garlic salt, italian seasoning, parsley, oregano to taste 1 pound of each: ground meat, hot and sweet sausage Look at the deliciousness!  In a skillet brown your meat and sausage in a little oil. Once browned place off to the side. Combine your onions, garlic, diced tomatoes, and crushed tomatoes. *Sweat your onions down first, then add the garlic. Then your tomatoes.* Open your tomato sauces and spaghetti sauces (w...

Christmas/New Year's Recap

First, I just want to say that I have absolutely no pictures from Christmas. I'm terrible, I know. In my defense, I was sick all through Christmas and just wasn't feeling "it." I do however, have pictures of some of the gifts I received and New Year's. Christmas Eve dinner was hosted by my parents and I. We had lasagna, wedding soup, salad, bread, and Italian butter. I made a homemade alfredo sauce to go along with the lasagna. I also made the Italian butter, and attempted to make my homemade French bread. This year, the bread did not turn out. For dessert, I made white chocolate raspberry shooters. They were SO good! I will do a recipe on those when I make them again! After everything was cleaned up, we honestly just relaxed. I would have liked to have gone to Christmas Eve service at our church, but I was coughing, clearing my throat every 5 minutes, and blowing my nose every 10. I was a hot mess. My grandparents came back out to our house after church and w...
