Scones

Another recipe post today! I just had to share these!
I'm an bacon and eggs girl for breakfast. Even toast gets old sometimes. However, these scones are absolutely delicious, and perfect for breakfast! My mom found the recipe in a Taste of Home magazine that we get. She made them one time before, and we were hooked! They use some unconventional ingredients. Vanilla yougurt and cinnamon chips, something you might not have on hand. I also really like this recipe because there aren't any eggs in it. Which in this weekends case was perfect, as we were completely out! (This was remedied by a quick trip to the grocery store!) Here's the recipe!

Cinnamon-Sugar Scones

Mix 3 Cups Biscuit Mix and 1/4 cup sugar.
Whisk together 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt, 1/3 cup 2% milk, and 1 TBSP vanilla extract.
Stir into dry ingredients, just until moistened.
Stir in 1 cup cinnamon chips OR semisweet chocolate chips.
On a lightly floured surface, knead dough gently 10 times. Pat into a 9 in circle. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Cut into 8 wedfges; place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until golden.
*All ovens vary so make sure to watch them the first time and adjust temp as needed.*

*Also, don't go to the store and buy the cinnamon-sugar! People, make your own. That way you can control the flavor the way you like it.

If you really want to jazz these up, drizzle some icing on lightly. With the icing, these just took a big step forward!

If you make these, leave me a comment and let me know what you thought of them!

Cooking for a Crowd: Spaghetti Sauce

My family likes to save money when we have parties. One way to do so is to cook everything ourselves, instead of hiring a caterer. Today, I wanted to give you a recipe for spaghetti sauce that will feed a crowd. This recipe is best made in an 18 quart roast pan. We bought most of our sauces and tomato paste at Costco. Ingredients: 2 onions 3 cans diced tomatoes 2 #10 cans of tomato sauce 1 #10 can on spaghetti sauce 1 heaping tsp of garlic minced 2 (28 oz) cans of crushed tomatoes 4 (6 oz) cans of tomato paste 1 tsp sugar Onion and garlic salt, italian seasoning, parsley, oregano to taste 1 pound of each: ground meat, hot and sweet sausage Look at the deliciousness!  In a skillet brown your meat and sausage in a little oil. Once browned place off to the side. Combine your onions, garlic, diced tomatoes, and crushed tomatoes. *Sweat your onions down first, then add the garlic. Then your tomatoes.* Open your tomato sauces and spaghetti sauces (w...

Christmas/New Year's Recap

First, I just want to say that I have absolutely no pictures from Christmas. I'm terrible, I know. In my defense, I was sick all through Christmas and just wasn't feeling "it." I do however, have pictures of some of the gifts I received and New Year's. Christmas Eve dinner was hosted by my parents and I. We had lasagna, wedding soup, salad, bread, and Italian butter. I made a homemade alfredo sauce to go along with the lasagna. I also made the Italian butter, and attempted to make my homemade French bread. This year, the bread did not turn out. For dessert, I made white chocolate raspberry shooters. They were SO good! I will do a recipe on those when I make them again! After everything was cleaned up, we honestly just relaxed. I would have liked to have gone to Christmas Eve service at our church, but I was coughing, clearing my throat every 5 minutes, and blowing my nose every 10. I was a hot mess. My grandparents came back out to our house after church and w...
